Typically, it's possible to do laundry while on tour, but cost and accessibility can vary depending on the tour itinerary and destination. It will be more difficult to do laundry if your itinerary doesn't have as much free time and you're changing hotels frequently.
Hotel laundry services
Most hotels offer a laundry service, but they can be expensive since they normally charge per clothing item. However, for many, the convenience is well worth it. With this option, it's very important to ask the hotel in advance how long it will take to get your clean laundry returned to you to ensure you get everything back before checking out of that hotel. Many hotels do offer a same-day option. Some hotels may have self-service washers and dryers available to guests where you pay a flat rate, similar to a laundromat.
Laundromats
A more affordable option is to do your laundry at a laundromat near your hotel. You can ask the hotel if there are any nearby. With this option, you'll need to have free time during the day or after dinner (depending on their hours) to do your laundry. Your Tour Director can help advise on the timing of activities once you're on tour.
Hand-wash smaller garments
You can hand-wash smaller clothing articles, like socks and underwear, in your hotel sink. Just fill up your sink with water and a touch of laundry detergent (you can purchase small packets to bring with you), hand-wash your items, wring them out well to remove excess water, then hang or place them somewhere to dry.
With this option, please respect the hotel and its housekeeping staff by not making a mess or hanging damp laundry in a place where any drips could cause damage. It's also important to make sure your items will be dry by the time you check out of your hotel. Please keep in mind that drying clothes in a more humid climate will take longer.
