When should I renew my passport?
Biggest piece of advice: DO NOT WAIT!
US passports are valid for 10 years from the date of issuance. It is vital that you make sure your passport will not be expired prior to departure or that it will be valid during the duration of your trip. Some countries require your passport to be valid for a specific period of time. Peru, for example, requires that your passport be valid for at least six months from your date of entry. It is your responsibility to make sure your passport will be valid for the country/countries you will be visiting.
The passport renewal process, even when expedited, can take weeks and sometimes months. If you need to renew your passport before your tour, make sure to start the process ASAP. If you need any advice or are unsure about your passport, our team is more than happy to help with any questions.
What if I am changing my name?
If you're looking to renew your passport to update your name, make sure you have several months before your trip departs to get that completed. Also, make sure that your TSA information in your online account with us reflects the new name that will be on your new passport so that your plane tickets match. If the names do not match, please reach out to us and we'll make sure that your airline ticket reflects the proper name.
If your tour is coming up within 6 months and you are considering renewing your passport to change your name, we recommend keeping your passport with your old name until you get back from your trip to avoid any delays in the renewal/name change process.
