This article applies to travelers visiting Rome between December 24, 2024 and January 6, 2026.
If you’re heading to Rome during the Jubilee of 2025, get ready for an unforgettable experience. This holy year, happening only once every 25 years, is a major event proclaimed by the Catholic Church. It kicks off on December 24, 2024, and wraps up on January 6, 2026. Expect millions of pilgrims and visitors flocking to Rome to pass through the Holy Doors of the city’s iconic basilicas and participate in special spiritual celebrations and events.
Key Things to Keep in Mind for Jubilee Season:
1. Traffic, Road Closures & Walking Adventures:
Rome will be bustling with extra traffic and isolated road closures in 2025. This might mean we’ll adjust drop-off and pick-up points, and you might need to walk a bit more or hop on public transport to reach the city’s landmarks. No worries—we’ve got you covered to make any adjustments as smooth as possible.
2. Crowds & Wait Times:
Rome is always a hot spot, but during the Jubilee, it’s going to be next level. Places like St. Peter’s Basilica will be buzzing with visitors. Expect some lines, but don’t stress—your Tour Director will help guide you through crowds and will do their best to make sure your experience is stress-free and enjoyable.
3. Vatican City Excursion Changes:
Here’s the scoop on St. Peter’s Basilica and its Holy Door (a Jubilee must-see):
- With all the action in Vatican City, tour groups won’t have access at certain times.
- For some 2025 trips, we’ll have to cancel the Visit to the Vatican excursion. If this affects your itinerary, you’ll get an email notification, and any prepaid costs will be refunded.
- If your tour doesn’t include the Vatican, you may still be able to snag individual tickets during your free time. Heads up: Tickets will be in high demand, so be sure to plan ahead!
Note: On departures where the Vatican excursion is still on, it won’t include passing through the Holy Door—something to keep in mind if that’s on your bucket list.
Flexibility = Travel Superpower
Some parts of your tour may need to be adjusted, and we’ll do our best to communicate itinerary changes with you before departure. We kindly ask that you remain flexible, as last-minute itinerary updates may be required given the nature of this significant event.
